Heathfield House Day Nursery is one of three family run day nurseries, owned by Mother and Daughter, Lisa and Natasha Kirkwood. Heathfield House offers full and part time childcare for 0-5 year olds, along with out of school club for 4-11 year olds, in a caring and homely environment. We pride ourselves on delivering high quality childcare and pre-school education, which is reflected in our most recent Ofsted report. We aim to be a “home from home”, especially somewhere the children can enjoy a wide range of activities. Our style of teaching and learning blends ideas from the “Reggio Emilia” and “Curiosity” style approaches, where children are given the opportunity to develop in stimulating environment, rich with learning opportunities. Spaces are light and neutral so the children can bring the colour and vibrancy to our settings. They have a variety of exciting, natural and real resources to explore in their play and promote curious little learners. We are particularly passionate about children enjoying the outdoors and have a stunning garden area, where children can truly thrive, and develop socially, emotionally and physically.

We believe children should be active participants in their own learning, so a child-led approach to planning is adopted by practitioners and activities are often spontaneous and child initiated. Practitioners have a strong focus on helping children develop into confident, independent individuals who are ready for their next stage of life and learning.

Parent partnerships are particularly valuable to us and we believe parent’s should be able to contribute to their child’s learning whilst at nursery. As such, we use a programme online to observe and monitor children’s progress which parent’s can view and contribute to, if they wish.
